Director: Daniel Blaufuks 2018, English voice-over

Using the material from an old amateur film he found on eBay, Daniel Blaufuks unfolds a story about a town in Poland where Jews made up a large part of the population. After returning from the death camps, they completely disappeared from their hometowns’ public spaces and thus also from images and from memory. Daniel Blaufuks uses this footage to reflect on his biographical roots, making this found film a personal story.

Daniel Blaufuks is a filmmaker and visual artist. He works at the interface between photography and literature, thematizing the relationship between the private sphere and the public. His video works and photographs have been exhibited internationally. Besides publishing numerous books, he teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and at the Catholic University of Lisbon.
