Ariela paints murals and still isn't married at 25. Her family thinks she’s obstinate. When her mobile phone
rings, it’s often her cousins trying to fix her up with young men from the Jewish community in Mexico City.
Then she meets charismatic Iván. He shows her facets of the city she never knew about, different kinds of food,
and much more. They become lovers. While Iván’s family doesn’t have a problem with Ariela being Jewish,

Born in Mexico in 1992, Isaac Cherem started working in film even as a teenager. He graduated from the Los Angeles Film School in 2011. In 2015, he founded the Mexican production company Fosforescente. LEONA is his feature film debut.
