Filmkunst 66

About the cinema

The successful history of filmkunst 66 began on 1 October 1971, when Fritz Stadler, a pioneer of the arthouse film scene, took over the cinema on Bleibtreustrasse in Berlin-Charlottenburg. It quickly became popular among young people and arthouse cinema aficionados.

Over time, filmkunst 66 has made a name for itself beyond Berlin's borders for its select, high-quality programming and for its festivals featuring westerns, fantasy films, and animated films. It has won awards for its outstanding arthouse programming.
